The Vastu Chronicles

ILLUSTRATION, DESIGN, CONCEPT, COPY

As part of our The Bakery brand strategy, Grass conceptualized a series of illustrated explainers that focused on spiritual exploration inside the home. We unpacked principles of Vastu Shastra, or the Indian art of interior design, using our product line of home fragrances and decor as a point of inspiration. The illustrations we created for the series combined bold colors, psychedelic imagery, and traditional architectural elements to create a sense of exploration and otherworldliness. The amorphous liquid blobs and colorful gradients give a sense of energy and flow, both important elements of Vastu. 

In keeping with the otherworldly graphics, the copy played with concepts of transcendentalism and spirituality. Each accompanying post was narrated from the perspective of The Bakery’s collective conscience, represented by the all-seeing eye in the brand’s logo. Grass employed the series as a vehicle for The Bakery brand identity, using the eye emoji in place of the first person singular pronoun, I.
