In the second piece from their dank Disney series, the artists turn their attention to the origins of cannabis in India. The flower placed at the center of the iconic rodent silhouette represents the third eye of Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction, who is often depicted holding a chillum or horn-shaped pipe used in ritual celebration of the pot god. As in the artist’s earlier work, Mickey Yin Yang (January, 2020), the use of organic materials displays the tension between nature and artifice, capitalism and spirituality.
